What a lovely pattern. I can’t wait to make this for a friend.

I’m a little confused with the pattern, and wondered if you could help me. For rows 3-15 I coudn’t tell if you skip the chain for each of the bean stitches or not – but someone one else asked that and you said we should skip for all, which I did but then when I get to the next row – row 16 it looks like the instructions are the same as rows 3-15 and on this particular row you say to do the chains loosely, but I thought I wasn’t doing chains.

Sorry, I’m not great at reading patterns yet and I’m reading it over and over to find the difference and I just cant figure it out. I would appreciate any clarification you can give me.

Thanks so much for the pattern, it’s beautiful.

Hi Polly, I’m happy you like the pattern πŸ™‚
To answer your question, in rows 3-15 you work the mini bean stitches into the mini beans from the previous row, now the ch-1 that closes the mini bean. In row 16, you have to be mindful to crochet the ch-1 mini bean closures loosely because in row 17 you will work a row of hdc into the mini beans and the ch-1 closures. I hope that makes sense. If not, then please reach out to me at onelittlehook@gmail.com. We can more easily communicate via email and I can share pictures and/or short videos if needed <3

Was looking for a beautiful, but neutral, baby gift. I made it in the same colors.
BTW, it turned out to be a girl, and mom loves those colors πŸ’š

This blanket looks wonderful, I can’t wait to try it. I want to tell you that you are a great teacher, your instructions are so easy to understand and encourages one to jump right in and try it. Thank you for taking the time to explain the stitch so well and so clearly.

Thank you so much, Nancy! I really try to make clear patterns with helpful pictures. I’m so pleased to read your kind words. <3 Julie

Hi Lori, I did not put an edging on this blanket, but there are other people who have made this blanket who did put an edging on it. My favorite one is a picot border. The photo this maker shared on Ravelry looks like they crocheted a single crochet border, then did a picot edging in the SC border. I’d love to see what you decide πŸ™‚

I’m in process with this now, though the baby finally came Sunday night and she’s a girl, I’m finishing the green one. The fabric this pattern makes is nice and squishy.

    • Julies Crochet

Congrats on the new baby! The green will still look very lovely for a wee little gal. Did you go with white for the contrasting color?

  • JP

I’m so excited to make this lovely blanket! For row 3-15, do you skip the chain 1 to close the mini bean stitch for just the first stitch of the row or the whole row?

    Thank you!
    JP

This looks very pretty, one of the nicest I’ve seen online lately! I would like to make this a little larger. What is the calculation for the starting chain? (i.e. multiple of (x) plus (x)) Thank you for your help and thanks for submitting this pattern for free!!! It is quite lovely and the color is amazing.

    • Julies Crochet

Hi Ruth, To adjust the width you would chain any even number. I’m so glad you like this pattern! Let me know if you have any more questions, I’m happy to help.
