Tunisian Crochet Cowl FREE Pattern

I recently learned this gorgeous Tunisian crochet honeycomb stitch and knew instantly I wanted to create a cowl to show it off!

It’s so much more simple to create than you might even think! Just 2 stitches and a 2 row repeat. Easy, peasy, right?

Gauge and Finished Dimensions

  • 9 sts X 7 rows = 4 inches x 4 inches (worked in pattern’s stitch)
  • 13 inches x 7 inches measured flat, 27 inch circumference measured around the outside while laying flat

Pattern Notes

  • You can adjust the circumference by adding or subtracting in multiples of 2.
  • You can adjust the height by adding or subtracting rows.

  • Return Instructions: yo, draw through 1 loop, * yo, draw through 2 loops, repeat from * across until you are left with 1 loop on your hook
  • Tunisian Simple Stitch Instructions: holding yarn in back of the work, insert hook, yo, draw up a loop
  • Tunisian Purl Stitch Instructions: holding yarn in front of the work, insert hook, move working yarn to the back, yo, draw up a loop
  • A video tutorial showing how to crochet the Tunisian Honeycomb stitch is at the end of this post.

I used a green stitch marker to keep track of my rows that begin with TSS

I used a pink stitch marker to keep track of my rows that begin with TPS.

Thank you so much for this easy to understand video on how to do this Honey Comb Stitch in Tunisian Crochet. I cannot always understand the words in the how to do Tunisian Crochet book. Thanks to you I now can do the knit and purl stitches better. I live in a town of 4000 people and the nearest knit/crochet shop is in Little Rock ( about and hour + drive from here). They had a shop in Conway, AR but it closed years ago and the last one lasted maybe a year if even that long. So I am so happy you created this website for us who need more instructions.

So glad to meet a fellow Tunisian crochet lover! Thanks for the compliments on the video, but compliments should go to Toni from TL Yarn Crafts. She created the video. She’s such an amazing Tunisian crochet teacher. Her tutorials are so clear and include such wonderful explanations. Not to mention that her voice is so calming. She’s pretty great. Happy Crocheting.
